Maxim Februari
Maxim Februari writes essays, columns and novels.
He studied art history, philosophy and law in Utrecht and obtained his PhD in Tilburg with a philosophical dissertation on the limitations of the homo economicus model. Since then, he has written about law, beauty, data, about man and about the future. In addition to writing, he has worked as a consultant for a long time, predominantly in the field of industrial safety.
Maxim February is a member of the Academy of Arts; his work has been awarded many times, from the Multatuli Prize in 1990 for his debut novel to the P. C. Hooft Prize in 2020 for his entire oeuvre.
His latest book Give Us A Break (2023) deals with our democracy and rule of law being sandwiched between the urgency of the climate crisis and advancing data-driven technology.
I have been Maxim’s manager since 2021.
