Heart of Darkness

Solo exhibition by Katarina Petrovic

Belgrade – The Hague

Heart of Darkness was a solo show by Katarina Petrović at U10 Gallery in Belgrade. Katarina is a Serbian born artist and researcher based in The Netherlands. Holding a degree from ArtScience Interfaculty (Royal Conservatoire & Royal Academy of Arts), she works at the intersections of art, science and humanities. Her work is part of an ongoing research on cosmogony, focusing on language and (its) generativeness. Presenting works such as Cosmologicus and Lexicon Liber Novus, the exhibition was one of the first ArtScience exhibitions in Serbia. Katarina’s work was rewarded in 2019 with the Mangelos Award for promising young artists in Serbia.

Katarina’s extensive network, interdisciplinary thinking and radical approach to initiate crossovers, have always excited me as an arts administrator. So the first opportunity that arose, I offered to support one of her projects, helping Katarina with fundraising for the development and production of her solo exhibit Heart of Darkness in Belgrade. We have been working closely together ever since. Working with Katarina often leads me into uncharted territory, where I need to challenge my way of thinking, opening up new insights. Katarina in turn advices and supports me as well, for example by co-developing my publishing platform Kubla Khan or shaping the digital representation of my entire practice and the authors I represent.
