Maxim Februari
Maxim Februari writes essays, columns and novels.
He studied art history, philosophy and law in Utrecht and obtained his PhD in Tilburg with a philosophical dissertation on the limitations of the homo economicus model. Maxim Februari is a member of the Academy of Arts; his work has been awarded many times, from the Multatuli Prize in 1990 for his debut novel to the P. C. Hooft Prize in 2020 for his entire oeuvre.
I have worked with Maxim for a few years, the highlight of which was the campaign for his book Give Us A Break (Doe Zelf Normaal), that deals with our democracy and rule of law being sandwiched between the urgency of the climate crisis and advancing data-driven technology.
